Understanding That Power

The thing about recovery that's unique to it that none of us will find anywhere else is that we're all allowed to have our own understanding of that power that's greater than all of us, and at the same time because of having this we allow everyone else to have their understanding even when it's different from our own. The magnificent reality for all of us of having this freedom that's in recovery is that deep down inside each and everyone of us this understanding is fundamentally the same, and all of our differences come from all of the different things that are blocking all of us from having that understanding. It is so important for all of us to be able to remove whatever it is that's blocking us so we'll all have that understanding because from having this understanding we all get the power we need to live our lives and without having this power we've all have already proved to ourselves what this does to all of us before we all get to recovery. We can find this, and in our own terms however it is we are able to understand this right now and then from there we'll start to cultivate this by the practice of recovery in our lives and we'll all end up with having the same understanding the one that's in all of us that we all come with which is what's going to save us all. Make no bones about it, this is what recovery is about for each of us, and no one should ever be able to keep any of us from our own understanding when we all come into recovery. That's where we all start from knowing that this will change as we all go along, and that none of us will ever be able to change what we don't have.
