Default Starting Over

Hello everyone, I have in recovery for almost 5 years now. It seems I have peeled another layer of the onion and now dealing with co-dependency issues. It is humbling to be in this place, God has bigger plans for me. I thank you for being here as I work on a deeper level of my recovery.

Welcome pharmdrob, thank you for signing in and saying hello. I can identify with you, read the preface to the book Codependent No More by Melody Beattie and ran to the nearest Al-Anon meeting. I was in my 5th year of recovery too. I later read her book Beyond Codependency.

Thank you Jo. I am beginning a new journey to know the real me. It seems so obvious to take care of yourself but denial is a really big wall that I have to climb over. I believe I'm chipping away at the wall and can see bits of myself through it.

Thanks for sharing. I know my wall was very high and thick and took time. All I could do was make the decision each day to not pick up and us in today, no matter what. Just because I have a thought doesn't mean I always have to act out on it. Just because a brick doesn't fall the first time we try to move it, all we are asked to do is keep trying.

This reminds me of the freedom of recovery. When we get the walls down, take of the rose-coloured glasses, and let go of the selective hearing, we can see the whole picture.

Hi Pharmdrob

Welcome to the site and to the journey

So glad you found us

Digging deep and peeling away the layers of the onion is a part of this adventure..At first it is sometimes scary and hurts but then it becomes exciting. And yes that wall of denial is a tuff one to crack sometimes but once a hole is broken thru we begin to see the Sunlight of the Spirit shining and we also begin to realize there are others around to walk and journey with us. We are never alone and we need not live in the dark ever again.

I hope you come back often
