Default Thought For Today - December

The Urge to Gossip

Now, we all gossip. But what goes around comes around! So, don’t do it.

Curb that urge to talk about others behind their back. Say positive, complimentary things about others.

Attending Every Meeting

We may receive many invitations to attend meetings. We know that great things can happen when minds meet. But if we were to say yes to every meeting, we may be wasting our valuable time.

So, determine whether it's absolutely necessary for you to attend the meeting. If you choose to decline the invitation, do it appropriately. If appropriate, give a reason why, or what you may be doing instead of attending the meeting.

Know that you’re not needed to attend every meeting, and save your valuable time.

A Relaxation Tip That Works Wonders

If you're tired and stressed, a soak in a hot bath works wonders. But if you have no time, then here's a tip: take two minutes to sit quietly and visualize it. It'll take you only a couple of minutes to feel as if you've had a thirty minute bath!

Visualize immersing yourself in a hot bath. As you lie in the bath, feel the warmth of the water soothe your muscles. Loosen your arms, release the tension from your back and relax your hips and legs. Immerse yourself in the warmth and relaxation, and let it work not only on your body, but on your mind too.

Are We There Yet?

Are we there yet? How often do you find yourself focused only on the destination? To reach that goal, whatever it may be?

Often, in our hurry to reach our goals, we get impatient and we also pace ourselves unsustainably. As a result, we don't enjoy the journey.

Instead of focusing on "Are we there yet?” focus on reaching your goals at a sustainable pace. Then you'll enjoy the journey, as well as the destination.

Dance Your Way

If you want to de-stress from the Christmas rush or stay healthy over the festive period – here’s an easy tip: Dance. It’s good for your posture, muscle strength and your fun-factor.

Turn on the music and dance around the room, step onto that dance floor at the next party, or find a dance class near you – and salsa, hip-hop disco, freestyle…. Dance your way to better well being.

Using criticism constructively

How do you react to criticism? Do you deny, blame, close off…? Remember, it’s not your whole character being criticized. Face any shortcoming with courage and welcome the chance to polish the rough edges of your character.

How High Can You Go?

What's going to take you to higher and greater altitudes, in your success, personal development, in everything you do? Of course, your aptitude has a lot to do with how high you can go - but so does your attitude.

Your attitude impacts everything, from your outlook, to your performance and results. So energize, empower and elevate your attitude. Then use your attitude as a springboard to reach for higher heights and greater altitudes.

Like A Chair

Just like a chair supports our body when we sit on it, be like a chair and be a support to others.

Even though some chairs are cozy and some uncomfortable, they’re always there when you need them. Like a chair, be there when others need you and enable them to be comfortable with who they are.

But sitting for too long isn't good for anyone, so, know when to let others rely on you and when to let them be self-reliant.

Busy Doing Everything

Do everything yourself and you'll always be busy doing everything! So, if you want to be less busy and more efficient, do this, delegate.

Delegate more effectively, and not just the stuff you don't want to do. Match the person with the task or let them choose the tasks they want to take on. Once you’ve clearly communicated clear expectations, let go and let others do things their way

Challenge Your Dislikes

We all have likes and dislikes…. activities, people, tasks, food…. But do they limit your life experience? How about, challenging your dislikes. Can you like the dislikes? If you can't, then can you dislike a little less?

Of course, it’s good to know what you like and don’t like. At the same time, keep challenging your dislikes and keep refining what you like and don't like. We don't have to like everything, but it’s good to broaden our life experience, isn’t it!

The River of Life

Like a river, life has its twists and turns and obstacles. Yet the river keeps flowing.

Like a river, accommodate the twists and turns of life. When obstacles come your way, your challenge is to find or create a way forward. Keep flowing forward and enjoy the exciting adventure that is life.

Any 2014 Regrets?

2015 is nearly over. Any regrets? Do you wish you had done things differently?

Well, you can’t change the past, but you think about the things you want to modify and do differently, otherwise 2016 will be pretty much the same as 2015. This way, you’ll get the best out of your regrets.

Abundance

To experience a life of abundance focus on what you have, rather than on what you feel is missing in your life. Count the good things, the riches in your life and give thanks for them. This begins to create a feeling of abundance.

Enhance your Inner Beauty

We all want to look beautiful. But beauty is more than skin deep. Just as we can enhance our outer beauty, why not invest in enhancing your inner beauty. Try the following three steps:

1. Feel beautiful. Meditate daily to experience your inner beauty, your positivity and power.
2. Be comfortable in your skin. Affirm your strengths and qualities, and accept your flaws.
3. Appreciate beauty. Notice what’s beautiful in everyone and everything around you.

Wrapped Up in Stress?

Are you wrapped up in the ‘stress of December’? Here’s a way to de-stress: reach out to others.

Give your time to an elderly neighbor. Volunteer in your community. Lend a helping hand at your local food bank. Simply find a way to get involved and do something valuable.

Be kind, your way. Be generous, your way. It’s a win-win for everyone.
