prayer for relief of pain
Im facing and actually going through a lot of physical and spiritual pain from the progression of a kidney disease. Not taking the pain meds due to past addiction to them on top of the alcoholism. I completely believe god can and will help with this. I just dont know of any specific prayers to pray for healing or coping with the pain. Any prayers and prayer suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Prayers Lancer. I found out in early recovery, the body manufactures the pain and tells you that you need more. I do a lot of meditation, take an inventory of my thoughts and actions to what brought me to where I am in today, to see what I did or didn't do to cause the pain to worsen. Like not getting rest, eating the proper foods and fluids (lots of water), and not getting exercise. How long was I on the computer, did I overdue or did I do nothing. Emotional pain can come out mentally, physically and spiritually.
I have an enlarged kidney, so I have to be careful of the medications that I take. Hope you find the solution, don't let the people in the recovery rooms or yourself play doctor. Having said that, "I had to change doctors in early recovery because my doctor had been my dealer for years." You need to get honest with your doctor too, many don't really know much about addiction. God Bless.

Thanks for sharing. I don't think I would have stayed clean and sober if it hadn't been for the alternative medicines and the Reiki, Reflexology, and hands on prayer from the Holistic Center. They helped me through 7 years of migraines and I wouldnt be walking today without their help.
Continued prayers. I found that I had to work my program on a spiritual level, just not the phsyical. Emotional and mental disorders also make themselves known physically, I had a lot of deep scars as a result of a lot of abuse in my life, and they helped me to look at myself and heal. The monarch butterfly was a big part of my healing and change. Every time I saw one or was gifted with one, a big transformation happened in my life. i.e. A guy asked me to be his sponsor, we were sitting on a park bench, and a monarch butterfly rested on the table between us. I was his temporary sponsor for some time, because I didn't feel qualified to understand his gay side, and the feelings that went with being gay. Being gay had nothing to do with his alcoholism, but I felt he need someone else to deal with his inner feelings and getting to know himself with someone who understood. I was with him until he had one year, and then I became a temporary sponsor. It was a big lesson for me and brought new understanding.

Thanks for sharing that, it amazes me the way god makes himself and his comfort known to me through other people. Like it says " he comes to all who honestly seek him". I havent done anything but pray, and reach out on here since i left the ER tuesday, and even with the physical pain still there and the knowledge that it probably always will be there, the hope through the personal and spiritual shared here has made getting outa bed and facing life in lifes term a doable deal. I cant thank yall enough foe the time, words and direction and prayers...has made a difference.

Thank you, my pain is always there and a lot of what I do determines whether it is manageable or whether I give it the power to rule my day.

I'm glad you are not taking pain meds, Lancer. I have been on them five months waiting for neck surgery, and I'm going to wean off after surgery and deal with the rest of the pain in my body- without pain medication. Reading all the posts above gives me strength. You are on my prayer list. Majesty Jo, your story of the monarch butterfly gives me chills ! When those things happen in my life I am awed and humbled that my Higher Power, who for me is Father God, Great Spirit, took the time to speak to me with a Love for which words just seem inadequate. Love, LittleWing7
