Washing by Faith
Washing by Faith
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NASB) Three days before a team of thirteen departed to Israel, there was a chance that I may be able to join them. All I needed now was $1,500 to buy a plane ticket. News flash: I work part time at a church and nanny on the side. I do not have that kind of money to spare. But deep in my heart, I truly believed God was telling me I would be on the trip. What now? First things first. I wanted God to know I heard Him and believed He is bigger than I can imagine. I went home Monday evening and washed all of my jeans. You may ask how this proves I believed God could make a way. Well, I have to hang dry my jeans and that takes two days. Tuesday came and went with still no word. Wednesday morning I confessed before God that I still believed He could make a way. As I was sitting at lunch, I received a phone call from Linda Lesniewski, our Women’s Minister and trip leader. A woman came in and paid for my plane ticket. I was going to Israel in less than 24 hours. At least my jeans were washed and dry! If you ask me if I serve a big God, my answer will always be yes. However, I do not always live my life in belief that my God can do anything. I limit Him by the rules and order of this world. My prayer over the past two years is that I would truly walk by faith, believing that God is bigger than I could ever imagine. He has shown me His power in the transformation of lives, the provision in my daily life, and the opportunities that have come across my path. Faith is believing in a God we cannot see. This makes no sense in a world that demands proof of existence in order for something to be true. As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, the proof is in how He changes lives every day. He takes worn out sinners and transforms them into the redeemed. He takes broken hearts and heals the wounds. He washes away our iniquities and replaces them with His desires. Rachel Bitter
