Grateful
I am grateful for so many things that recovery has given me, i drank and smoked crack for over 30 years and today i am over 7 years clean! In that time i have went back to schools and got a Masters Degree in mental health and addiction counseling, I missed passing the National boards by 2 points on the decisions making section of the exam, but scored well in the other sections. Because of my struggles with my recovery, i have learned that every set back is not always a bad thing and that if i want something bad enough to keep trying,to me the only way i can fail is to stop trying, i am allowed to take the NCLMHC exam again or at least be able to schedule again on Sept 15. Though i am riddled with test anxiety i am going to study more and calm down and PASS THIS TEST. i have worked very hard to go back to school at 51 years old and have a 3.9 GPA. This sounds crazy but i believe that the struggles in life are what allow me to grow so i must embrace those struggles and keep faith in Gods process. I have been told "God does amazing things with his broken people", And i am determined to turn the mess i have made of my life over 30 years around and turn that mess into my message and truly connect with other addicts and turn them on to this wonderful thing of recovery> Please pray for my strength and wisdom on test day and keep me worthy of Gods grace and Mercy, sincerely, Roy Miller
