Default Heard By God

Heard By God by Jennifer Benson Schuldt

Hannah spoke in her heart; . . . her voice was not heard. —1 Samuel 1:13

After reading several children’s books with my daughter, I told her that I was going to read a grown-up book for a while and then we would look at books together again. I opened the cover and began to read in silence. A few minutes later, she looked at me doubtfully and said, “Mommy, you aren’t really reading.” She assumed that since I wasn’t speaking, I wasn’t processing the words.

Like reading, prayer can be silent. Hannah, who longed for a child of her own, visited the temple and “spoke in her heart” as she prayed. Her lips were moving, but “her voice was not heard” (1 Sam. 1:13). Eli the priest saw but misunderstood what was happening. She explained, “I . . . have poured out my soul before the Lord” (v.15). God heard Hannah’s silent prayer request and gave her a son (v.20).

Since God searches our hearts and minds (Jer. 17:10), He sees and hears every prayer—even the ones that never escape our lips. His all-knowing nature makes it possible for us to pray with full confidence that He will hear and answer (Matt. 6:8,32). Because of this, we can continually praise God, ask Him for help, and thank Him for blessings—even when no one else can hear us.
Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known. —Walford

God fills our heart with peace when we pour out our heart to Him.

Got the thought, `How often we play lip service and don`t take what we read and apply it to our life.` We take things out of context and leave what we don`t want to see or hear.

With my Bible and other books, I say a prayer and ask for what I need to know in today. Open the book and read the pages or read the area where my eyes fall.

The same with my angel cards. I shuffle the deck, hold them for a few moments, ask for what I need in today, cut the cards and meditate on the card I receive, sometimes, I get more than one. I know when I am in denial, when I don`t like the answer and shuffle again. I either get the same card or a card that says `You already know`or it says to have clarity of thought, more like will you make up your mind, I gave you your answer, what more do you want.

I have more than one angel deck, and if I look at others, it generally gives me the same scenario. The cards helped me to concentrate and helped me to quiet my mind and meditate. I don`t use them very often in today, not like I use to. I have my inner knowing, and often in today, they are an affirmation, whether I like it or not.

They don`t tell you what to do, for me, they make me conscious and aware. When I invite my God for good orderly direction, what I need is there.
