Other Gods
OTHER GODS
When our treasures are stored in the things of the world, it shows. People see us with things and hear us talk about everything in the world but rarely hear us talk about God. If our words are all about the things of the world rather than Jesus’ resurrection and God’s love, how are we going to be a godly example to others? When we talk mainly about the things of the world, it would appear we serve other gods rather than our Holy God. 1 Samuel 7:3 “Then Samuel said to all the people of Israel, ‘If you want to return to the Lord with all your hearts, get rid of your foreign gods and your images of Ashtoreth. Turn your hearts to the Lord and obey him alone; then he will rescue you from the Philistines.’” (NLT) Dear Lord, help us to be a godly example to others today. We want to turn away from the things of the world. We want to stop focusing on the things of the world. We want to quit talking about the things of the world. We want to only serve and honor You. Help us to turn from the things of the world and worship You. We want to be a godly example to others and stop acting as if we are serving other gods rather than You. We need to ask ourselves if our words and actions are showing we truly put God first in our lives. If our actions are all about the things of the world, how are we going to lead others to Jesus? When the things of the world consume us, others will not see Jesus in us. If our words are all about the things of the world, how are we going to tell others about Jesus? It is a commandment from God that we should not have any other god but Him. Exodus 20:3 “You must not have any other god but me.” (NLT) Focus: Think about who or what you truly serve today. If it isn’t God, turn from those worldly things and begin serving Him. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu...d=FRANCESLUCAS

This has been a long time contention between many religions and people of many beliefs over the years. I have always seen, since I came into recovery, that addiction was susbstances (people, places, and things) that became 'gods' that I put between myself and who my God would have me be in today.
I also looked at nuns, priests, praying to Mary and other dieties, as other gods. I prefer to think that there is one God, who is revealed in many forms, no matter what I call Him, and it is up to me to build a relationship with Him. It is my personal relationship with my God that is important. He is my Lord, my Creator, my Saviour, my All.
