If all of us who have this problem just keep on doing what we've been doing before we get to recovery, that wasn't working, nothing is going to change for any of us. Recovery is about change so that we can get rid of what's causing us trouble. We're all reluctant to be willing to do this to change because we've all become so familiar with what we've been doing, what wasn't working, and this was all that we knew. Finding something to replace this would mean all of us would have to trust that it would be better for us. This is what recovery gives to all of us, so that we're able to see people like ourselves who were able to change by doing the things that they found in recovery, and they are no longer where we are. Once all of us see that a change for the better is possible the next hurdle that we all have to go through is believing we can get this for ourselves as well. This is a little more difficult for all of us because of how badly we've all been hurt by having this problem. This makes it harder for us to think we're worthy of having this, but all of us can, and are able to have this, and we can help ourselves to have what we see in others by asking ourselves, do I want to be like these people I see who have made the changes that make it possible for them to be helping me? If we can say yes to this, then we are on our way to being able to do this for ourselves.
