We all want what we want when we want it. None of us like to be told what to do, we all want to do what we want to do. Unfortunately, when we're new to recovery, what we all want for ourselves is usually not good for us or the right thing for any of us to be doing. This is where it becomes tricky for all of us because unless recovery is something that we all think we want none of us can ever have it or will any of us ever become willing to do the things we need to do in order to get it. Forcing ourselves or being beaten into doing these things has never worked. Some will argue this and say that this is the only way to get any of us to do anything. What's been found to work better is for all of us to be shown what our life could be like and what all of us could have for ourselves if we become willing to do the things that are necessary for all of us to have this. Usually this is where all of us begin to think that recovery is something that we want for ourselves and become willing to do what it takes so we can have it. It is by us being attracted to what it is that recovery can offer to do for all of us, that any of us will ever end up getting this, and this is the only way that it has ever worked, is for all of us to want this for ourselves and then be willing to do what it takes to have it. It's never been a question of will this will work, it's only a matter of us wanting it and being willing and if we are, then it's guaranteed to work for any one.
