To say at the very least that all of us have a big sense of being overwhelmed when we all start out in our own recovery would be a very large understatement for all of us. Sometimes this can be so intense for some of us that we won't be able to make it into recovery because of this, but all of us can make it, if we can learn how important it is for us to be able to break this down. The first thing we learn how to do is to learn how to live just in today, which is a lot different from what all of us have been used to doing up to now, but this will make things much easier on all of us to be able to all things we need to do in our own recovery from now on and also makes things much more manageable for us too. Learning how we can live this way means that none of us have to think about how we're going to be in recovery for the rest of our lives, only just for this day is all we need to know about. The next thing we all need to know about that helps break this down for all of us is that we're all doing this for ourselves, and not for anyone else. By knowing this we all can learn how to begin to take responsibility for ourselves, which up to now for all of us we're all only too glad to give to someone else. Learning how to live in recovery one day at a time so we're all able to do all the things that we all need to do and then learning how to take responsibility for ourselves by doing all those things will carry all of us a long way, and will diminish that sense of being overwhelmed that we all have at the beginning of recovery. Remember none of us gets to live forever, and if we don't learn how to live just in today, and be responsible for our own life, we may never learn how to live at all, and then life will just pass us by and we'll have nothing to show for what little time we all have here before it's all over for all of us.
