Default What Am I Afraid Of?

You are reading from the book Today's Gift

Fear is the absence of faith.
—Paul Tillich

We all experience fear. Sometimes we fear small things that only seem large at the time, like a test in school, or meeting a new boss, or going to the dentist. Sometimes we fear big things like serious illness or death, or that someone we love will come to harm. Fear is healthy, and we all feel it. It keeps us from doing foolish things sometimes, but too much fear can also keep us from doing what we need for our growth.
If we have faith in God and in ourselves, we can turn and face whatever frightens us, believing we can, with help, do what seems impossible. And we will, and the fear will vanish. The important first step in dealing with fear is to take action--either by tackling what we fear ourselves, or by asking for help. Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.

What am I most afraid of?
My son deciding to overdose, he has talked suicide for years. All I can do is put Him into his God's Hands.

I must admit with my physical, mental, and Spiritual life, that I've been telling a lot of people I should just end my life. I even told a Officer that the other day here when he came to break up a fight that a guy threatened to stab him. The officer said, "I can give you a ride." I said no I won't do that.

I do think about it sometimes though, that is why I got set up to be more evaluated on my Physc Doctor. Medications need adjusted somewhere because I know the person that I am, I am not the person that others see or read online. So I have to get involved at a deeper level in my Recovery.

I am truly blessed that although I have a lot of Fear, I must not let me share what I am feeling!

The thing that has helped me is faith, it replaces my fear, when I choose to let go and let God. I am not my son's Higher Power. He has to find his own and doesn't have the faith to replace his fear.
