I love the saying: "We absolutely insist on enjoying life"

Thanks for sharing, I like it too. I told a young guy from Quebec, if you aren't enjoying life, every time you pick up a pin, ask yourself what am I doing wrong. I presented him with his 3 month pin.

I am given a second chance at life, why shouldn't I enjoy it and be ever so grateful.

Gratitude abounds when we remember to look at what we have, instead of what we do not have. I need to look at where my dis-ease took me and be grateful in today that I no longer have to go there.

Control was a big issue for me. Every time I see the word, I use to have an up tight feeling. I am grateful that I learned, if you have to control it, it is already out of control.

Control is an illusion. When I think I am in control, I need to acknowledge that my empowerment comes from my God.

Grateful for the gifts of recovery. The greatest gift of all is the fact that I am clean and sober in today.

Happiness comes from within. Looking outside of ourself makes us want more, makes us feel less than or greater than, because we compare instead of identifying. We ending up wanting, instead of being grateful for what we have. When I get needy, I get greedy.

When I keep looking out, I always felt like I never measured up. I didn't know myself, I lost my identity, and lived my life through others. So grateful to be me in today. So grateful that it is okay to be me.

Grateful that my God put signs in front of me and thoughts in my head. What has been coming up has been the Eagle, which according to Jamie Sams, means Spirit.

It is what I need to address and process.

Grateful for the ability to open my mind and process things. The 12 Steps are applicable to all areas of my life.

Thank God for all the Fellowships, I qualify for most of them.

“Dare to Be

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.

When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.

When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.

When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.

When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.

When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.

When times are tough, dare to be tougher.

When love hurts you, dare to love again.

When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.

When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.

When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.

When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.

When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.

When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.

Dare to be the best you can –

At all times, Dare to be!”

Quote:
Be, do and have

"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you love to do, in order to have what you want."

-- Margaret Young

The formula for success is Be, Do, Have. If we seek abundance, we must be abundant in spirit. We can begin to cultivate spiritual wealth by opening our hearts in gratitude.

Start a gratitude journal today. Each evening, write down at least 5 things for which you are grateful. This simple tool will help you open your eyes to the abundance of your world right now.

"Who does not thank for little will not thank for much."

-- Estonian proverb

- Higher Awarenes
It is the little things that I am grateful for today. Before recovery they were big things, and I often hear people say, it is the little things that irritate them in sobriety.

i.e. Standing in line at the grocery store, waiting for an automatic door to open, wait for a pot to boil, waiting for time to elapse, waiting for a telephone call, and the list goes on and on.

When I find myself in this position, I use the time to stop and connect with my HP and ask for the patience and tolerance I need in the moment. The Serenity Prayer has saved many an instances where I might have flown off the handle in those old patterns and behaviors.

Thank God for recovery.

Today I am grateful to be alive and sober.

Grateful that my coworker, Brad has given me a ride to and from work while my truck is in the shop.

Grateful that the truck will be fixed and ready to pick up at lunchtime.

Smile Gratitude

I am grateful to know that Gratitude is the least stress-filled attitude to have. It is most likely the antidote to any stressor.

In Melody Beattie's book Make Miracles in 40 Days, we learn to be grateful for all the seemingly wrong things in our lives.

I've engaged in this practice with other recovering women for a few years now, and I have to say -- It Works!

If nothing else, simply getting the thing I don't like out of the squirrel cage in my brain is helpful. It clears the way for better things to come through.

Also I find it motivating to pay attention when I keep complaining about the same thing over and over; why is this condition persisting and what can I do about it. More often than not, slowing down is my answer.

Not saying it will be anyone else's answer, but it is my answer. :-)

I am grateful to have a relationship with my creator, to be able to have and see him in the working of my life. I am grateful that I am clean and sober, and I am living life on life's terms, that I can choose to do the next right thing and I am making better decisions, with others in mind. I am grateful to be at peace with the world.
I am grateful for life and love, family and friends.
