Default I'm So Glad Jesus Lifted Me

"I'm So Glad Jesus Lifted Me," 860

I'm so glad Jesus lifted me.
I'm so glad Jesus lifted me.
I'm so glad Jesus lifted me,
singing glory, hallelujah! Jesus lifted me.

Satan had me bound, Jesus lifted me.
Satan had me bound, Jesus lifted me.
Satan had me bound, Jesus lifted me,
singing glory, hallelujah! Jesus lifted me.

When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me.
When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me.
When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me,
singing glory, hallelujah! Jesus lifted me.

"Singing glory hallelujah! Jesus lifted me." This is what we do on Sunday morning. We sing of a God who lifts us from our knees. A God who raises the paralytic from his bed, raises Peter from the waves and raises a little girl to life . . . and then raises us. Miracles can be hard to quantify in our day. Walking on water doesn't happen so much anymore, nor does changing water into wine. But being lifted-- that happens. How often has God lifted you from your knees? How often have you been sinking under the waves, only to feel the reach of the savior? "When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me." No reprimand, no advice, no carefully worded email, but a God who reaches down and takes you by the hand and lifts you from your knees and causes you to stand. It is not the dusty miracle of yesterday. It is today's grace.

Dear God, take me by the hand. Lift me from my knees and then lead me. You do not raise me only to have me stand still. Draw me forward into the plan of your grace. Raise me once again, from death to life. Amen.
