Careful How We React
CAREFUL HOW WE REACT
There are many times in life where we get surprised by someone's upsetting words or actions. Despite how hurtful they may seem, we need to be sure we are careful how we react. Rather than holding it in or sharing the problem with everyone else, we need to take time to put ourselves in the other person's shoes. We need to step back, assess the situation and pray for the right response. We need to examine our own actions in the situation to see if there was anything we should have done differently. When we do these things, we will have a better influence on others and not appear to be one who flies off the handle at every little thing. Instead of reacting in the same hurtful way, we should act with love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." (NLT) Dear Lord, please help us not be quick to judge. Please help us to stop and pray before reacting to others who we believe may be out to hurt us. Help us to show love rather than pride. Help us to not demand our own way. Help us not to keep a record of who has wronged us. We know we are all human and it is easy to react negatively to someone we believe has done wrong. Instead, however, we need to come to You for guidance, help and direction. Show us how to love others rather than react negatively and show out. In Jesus' name. Amen. Rather than blaming others, we may want to look at our own actions. When we react with a negative response too quickly and not think things through, we are setting a bad example. If we want to be wise, we need to remain calm and seek God for the right actions to take. When we are careful about reacting to difficult situations, we can take time to pray for the right response. It is foolish to have a quick temper. Nothing good comes from it. Proverbs 12:16 "A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted." (NLT) Focus: Remember to act wisely in every situation. When we do we are setting the right example for others. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu...d=FRANCESLUCAS
