In recovery, there is no race to run. No one is better, less, greater, lower than anyone else, we walk beside each other.
There is no having to do better than someone else, each of us move along at our own pace, some are sicker than others. I know, I was one. The only thing they ask is to try to stay clean and sober to the best of your ability. Each person has their own God, that includes building a personal relationship with your God. We are individuals, we travel this journey, but it doesn't have to be alone. I know I wouldn't have made it without the support that I received. As far as tasks and living the program, it is trying to do things in today and not act out in my disease. The program is about change. It isn't about saying sorry, oops, I'll try better next time, but by practicing the principles in all our affairs. It is so much better when we invite God to go with us. When I walk with Him, I am aware, and it is up to me to act on the new awareness and not revert back to old behaviours, habits, and actions from the past and bring them into today.
