Prayer is simply talking to God. It is a vital component in our relationship with God.

1 Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel.

Often we try so many things before we call on God for our situation. It is interesting to note what Jabez’ name meant.

1 Chronicles 4:9 His mother named him Jabez because she had such a hard time at his birth (Jabez means “Distress”).

Lets substitute the meaning of his name and see what it says. ‘Distress called on the God of Israel.’ Perhaps now your name could fit in there – mine certainly could.

Psalm 18:6 In my distress I screamed to the Lord for His help. And He heard me from heaven; my cry reached His ears.
