Default Grace for Being Human

God's Word For Today

Grace for Being Human

Read Genesis 27:1 through 29:30; Matthew 8:14–34

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm (Matthew 8:26).

Several of Jesus’ disciples were fishermen. They had undoubtedly encountered wild storms before, but this one terrified them.

When the disciples awakened Jesus, He wasn’t concerned. He spoke to the disciples, addressing their fear and He rebuked the wind.

Note that He didn’t rebuke the disciples; He just rebuked the problem. How many times are Christians afraid to take their fears, concerns, and worries to the Lord because they’re afraid He’ll scold them or be disappointed? The disciples had just come from seeing Jesus perform miracles, and they were still terrified that they were going to die. They were human. Jesus gave them grace for being mortals, with the inconsistencies that mortals often have.

He will do no less for people today!

Take your fears to Jesus and let Him rescue you.

Challenge for Today: Talk to God about your fears.

Quicklook: Matthew 8:23–27

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
