Trying To Pay Attention
Our feelings can be very confusing to us when we're new to recovery. For most of us it's the first time in a long time we have felt some of them. We start to become aware of the damage we have done to ourselves by choosing to not want to feel some of them. We ended up not being able to feel any of them. Now that we're in recovery we'll begin to experience all of them once again. We should allow this when this starts to happen knowing that our feelings can guide us to a full life, one that has meaning and purpose. All we do is acknowledge we do have them and experience them. We also need to know that our feelings are not facts, they are neither good nor bad, they're just feelings and that by trying to pay attention to them we can be helped by them.
