Life’s highest beauty

What makes life difficult is also what makes life good. Responsibility, commitment, obligation, discipline, challenge, and effort all can be tough to bear, and all are essential to a life of fulfillment.

Many of the difficulties you experience come from the other people in your life. But what a sad and empty thing your life would be if there were no other people with whom to share your world.

Other difficulties arise from the physical and biological constraints of your existence. Yet that existence itself, and the possibilities it enables, are nothing short of miraculous.

Though you cannot escape the burdens, you never have to let them wear down your spirit. You can greatly mitigate the difficulties by accepting their necessity and by making them well worth their trouble.

Accept each day and everything it brings. Embrace it all with open arms, with the commitment and determination to transform whatever you encounter into positive and purposeful living.

Life’s highest beauty is built upon life’s greatest difficulties. Add something of yourself to that beauty by the way you live today.

Do your dream

Don’t let anyone take your dreams away from you. Your dreams are what move the world forward.

When you dare to dream, people will scold you for being selfish. But your dreams are not selfish.

Living the best life you can imagine is the most generous thing you can do for all of life. So dream big, dream well, dream in glorious detail, and do your dream.

There are many problems in the world. None of those problems will be solved by you being less than your best.

On the contrary, the process of working to make your own life better will enable other lives to get better. Insisting on the best from yourself is what makes you the most beneficial for others.

Do your dream, with confidence, compassion, love, and positive energy. Do your dream, and give all of life your greatest gifts.

A day to fill

You can do nothing to change the way the world was when you got out of bed. You can do everything to improve the way the world will be at the end of the day.

Your choices have consequences. Make full and positive use of that power.

Don’t seethe about what may have happened or worry endlessly about what may come. Let your intelligence and your influence be driven by love, and give this day the best you have.

Right in front of you are precious hours to make good use of. Close at hand are the tools with which you can bring new meaning and progress to life.

Your journey through this day has already begun. Take each step in a manner that causes value and goodness to linger in the places you go.

No task is too tedious, no challenge is too great. You have a day to fill with positive, purposeful living.

All that’s right

Every day, a few things go wrong. But a whole lot more things go right.

Do your best to fix what is broken. And remember to appreciate, support, and maintain the many things that continue to work very well.

It’s natural, and smart, to focus on the dangers and the risks. But imagine what would happen if you chose to focus a little more on the opportunities.

You’ll always have a number of issues to complain about. Yet there’s much, much more for which you can be thankful.

Be very careful not to discard or disparage all that’s good in your attempt to remedy what is wrong. Put your problems in perspective, for that’s what will enable you to solve them.

Yes, by all means improve on what’s wrong. Do it by fully valuing and making good use of all that’s right.

— Ralph Marston

A little bit adds up

A little bit here and there adds up. Do a little bit, do it again, and keep going.

When you only have a few minutes, you have plenty of time. You have time to do a little bit.

Months go by, years follow upon years. And every day there are multiple opportunities to do a little bit.

Time will pass whether you make use of it or not. Do a little bit, every chance you get, and get the most from all the moments you have.

Whether it’s with your health, your finances, your career, your relationships, your knowledge, a little bit makes a big difference. Because over time, time and time again, you add more and more value.

Now is another great opportunity to live life just a little bit more, just a little bit better. Take that opportunity, and you’ll quickly see what a big impact you can have.

Live today

Live today as if you will never have it again. Because you won’t.

Live today as if it is filled with unique opportunities. Because it is.

Live today with a generous spirit. And you’ll resonate fully with its endless abundance.

Live today far removed from the doubts and angers that would bring you down. Fill your thoughts instead with curiosity, forgiveness, kindness, and joy.

Live today with gratitude for its possibilities. Live today with patience for yourself and others as you move forward through the challenges.

This is a moment like no other, and you’ve arrived at it with more wisdom and experience than you’ve ever had. Live today, and live it very well.

When something annoys you

Becoming annoyed helps you identify changes and improvements you can make. Staying annoyed, however, doesn’t do you any good.

When you feel annoyed, notice what your annoyance is telling you, and consider what you can do about it. Then, let the annoyance go.

Continuing to be annoyed just drains your energy and contaminates your attitude. Don’t do it.

Instead, just smile to yourself, and feel the power of your own choice. Then choose to move your thoughts on past whatever triggered your annoyance.

You have higher thoughts to think, better ways to feel, more useful things to do. You never have to let some little imperfection ruin any more of your precious time.

Plenty of things can be annoying. And you can quickly move far beyond every one of them.

What’s to become

What’s to become of this life you love so much? It’s largely up to you, right now.

The future does not just play out on its own. You have a key role, particularly in those aspects of life that you care most about.

This moment can be a positive turning point. This day can be one you decide to utilize to the fullest.

Set aside those factors you cannot control. Focus intently on your purpose, and on what you can actually do to advance that purpose.

The path forward is not simple or easy or comfortable, yet it does exist, and is accessible. Just because it has challenges is no reason to avoid it.

Get on that path right now and get going. What’s to become depends largely on what you’re willing to do.

Meaningful experience

You have the opportunity to make today a meaningful experience. From these moments you can create a meaningful experience not only for yourself but also for others.

Is there anything more fundamental to life than that? Of what value is everything else if it has no purpose, has no meaning?

So what exactly does make an experience meaningful? Anything is meaningful to the degree that it resonates with truth.

A meaningful experience is an authentic experience. A meaningful experience connects with your deepest idea of who you are.

It doesn’t have to be epic, or impressive, or even particularly memorable. It just has to be true, for you, for those with whom you share it.

At the heart of your life is truth, and the desire to express that truth in a million different ways. Let that truth drive you, today and every day, to create meaningful experiences.

Stop putting off

Stop putting off what you have to do. You’re stealing time, energy, and focus away from what you want to do.

There are certain tasks you must get completed, each day, each month, each year. They’re not particularly fun or inspiring, yet they’re necessary.

The problem comes when you avoid them, put them off until later, and then put them off again. By doing so, you make them much more burdensome than they otherwise would have been.

Your procrastination does not solve any problem or get the task done. It transforms something that might have taken an hour or two into a monster that hangs over everything you do.

By skipping directly to the enjoyable stuff, you take the enjoyment out of it. Because you know you haven’t done what must be done.

Do yourself a big favor, right now, and get all those things done that you really don’t want to do. You’ll give yourself the gift of being able to fully enjoy those many other pursuits that you’re eager to follow.

Enjoy and employ

It’s great when you can simply sit back and enjoy life in all its goodness and beauty. Yet if that passive enjoyment were to fill your whole life, it would soon cease to be enjoyable.

Enjoy life, marvel at its wonder, but don’t let that be the end of it. Let it be your inspiration to put all those great possibilities to good use.

Keep yourself always open to the abundance of goodness. Keep yourself ever committed to building on that goodness.

Be thankful for all the value in your life and in your world. Eagerly put that thankfulness into action.

Enjoy your good fortune. As a crucial part of that enjoyment, employ your good fortune to expand upon itself, for you and for others.

Take an active role in the goodness of the life you enjoy so much. Make full use of it to create even more.

Where truth leads

You can’t learn anything from someone who agrees with everything you say. It might feel good, but it doesn’t really do you any good.

You also can’t learn anything from someone who disagrees with everything you say. When there is no common ground, there is no way to convey information.

Some people, though, are able to understand you and at the same time challenge you. Seek out those people and you can learn much from your interactions with them.

When your thoughts and ideas are challenged, they become more clear, more aligned with truth, more valuable. Be willing to question your thoughts, even to possibly discard them, and your thinking grows in power.

With each experience, with every interaction, you expand your ability to understand. Rather than seeking to hear only what you agree with, seek new levels of truth.

Open your knowledge, your ideas, and yourself to challenge. And go where the truth leads.

— Ralph Marston

Love this life

Love this amazing life. Love every bit of it, every minute of it.

Love the difficulties, love the joys. Love the contradictions and the dilemmas.

Love the memories and the hopes. Love the frustrations, love the satisfactions.

Love being able to make things happen. Love standing in awe of things you cannot possibly change and would never even want to.

Love all you have and the things you cannot ever have. Love moments of relaxation and love the times of effort.

Love the dawn, the dusk, the dark of night, the thunder and the sunshine. Love until you have no more to love, and then find more.

— Ralph Marston

Let life amaze you

The world is full of wonder today. Open yourself to it, experience it, share it and expand upon it.

Life is filled with opportunity right now. See it, be inspired by it, and make something of it.

You are surrounded by possibilities, right where you are. Notice those possibilities and bring them to fruition.

In what’s obvious, in what’s subtle, in the smallest details, in the widest panorama, live the bounty of life. Before you strive and struggle to get more, realize the great extent of what’s right in front of you.

Let life amaze you. Let that amazement deepen your commitment to live with goodness, generosity, and excellence.

See the beauty, feel the wonder. And live the amazing experience that is your life in this moment.
