Set your affections on the things of Heaven

Lay not up treasures on earth but lay up for yourself treasures in Heaven.

Set your affections on the things of Heaven and not on the things of the earth.

Let Heaven by your hope and not some earthly gain.

Thoughts of Heaven bring happiness and joy, thoughts of the earth bring only pain.

We are pilgrims on a journey to the promised land, we are just passing through this earth only for a brief stay.

Keep moving one, like a caravan of nomads, pressing ever onward and upward toward that distant city of hope where the water runs free waiting there for you and me.

Everyone who has this hope within himself will purify his life from the sins of the world and will live a life filled to overflowing with Heavenly virtue.
