But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 NLT.

Believers are children of the light, as 1 Thessalonians 5:5 says: For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. Therefore, we need to be clearheaded, alert, our minds protected against deception that is all around us daily on earth and in the heavenlies. For, remember we are fighting against mighty powers in this dark world and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

In this world our eyes, ears, mind and heart are bombarded daily by ungodly influences and false statements. We need to keep a clear mind that is filled with the truth of God’s word in order to be discerning and not be led astray. The enemy’s main tactic is to attack our minds with his lies, therefore wearing the Helmet of Salvation assures us that we are secure in Christ and enables us to stand firm in our faith.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for Your armor of faith and love that protects me daily from the onslaught of the wicked ones. Thank You for Your gift of salvation in Christ and Your Helmet of Salvation that protects my mind so it can stay clear of the enemy’s untruths. Help me to always be aware that I need to be clothed in Your Armor daily. Amen.
