Tensions
Tensions
Tensions are messages from our bodies. Sometimes they tell us that something is amiss in our lives. A person in the wrong line of work may develop tension headaches. People who carry grudges may develop ulcers. Fearful individuals or people who do not trust themselves may experience muscular tightness. The mind reflects its state of awareness on to the body, and the body reciprocates by doing the same thing to the mind. A vicious circle comes into being. The process has a positive side for us if we are able to learn from it, but the process is wasted if we refuse to attend to its meaning. In that case, all we are left with is the pain. At times, it takes honest, creative thinking to link the tension with its cause. We need to look at the unsatisfactory side of our lives and admit the failed personal relationships, the failed dreams, the self-defeating attitudes that poison our lives. If we are able to make the link between those things and physical tensions, then we will have heard our body's message. When the message is acknowledged and received, it no longer has a reason to stay with us. It goes away and leaves us in peace. I know that tensions are my body' s messages to me, Lord, but I need help in deciphering the messages' meaning. I need the courage to look honestly at myself, the humility to ask for help when I need it, and the ability to trust that you will have a part in my healing. Focus Your Day
